About

Pierre Putman (b. 1974) is an visual artist and photographer living and working in Ghent, Belgium. His visual aesthetics, mostly dark and moody, bring a certain romanticism to the isolated landscapes he captures. Putman is drawn to hidden cinematic scenes and the aesthetics of artificial light that becomes apparent at night. Deserted streets and retreating figures become backdrops for narratives and storylines. Shrouded in shadows and mystery, the high contrast mises-en-scènes could easily pass off as film noir stills. His objective is to produce imagery that is mysterious, evocative and intriguing.
